A person attempting suicide by running a car in a closed garage triggered shelter in place orders from Berkeley police Tuesday on Grizzly Peak Boulevard.
Police went door to door at about 10:45 a.m. alerting neighbors in the 1400 block after discovering carbon monoxide coming out of a garage at 1417 Grizzly Peak Boulevard.
The person was taken to a hospital, but Berkeley police did not release a name, calling the incident a "personal, private, family matter" protected by a federal health confidentiality law.
The shelter in place order was lifted at about 12:30 p.m.
